Library Tutorials

Finding Scholarly Articles, the very first thing you have to do is find a topic, and then search the topic. To search Scholarly Articles you can use; the title, the author, conclusions, abstracts, and the sources. The articles can be found under the "link source" or sometimes under the "pdfs". In the video we are shown how to refine the search from thousands of choices to by going to the left side of the webpage and selecting "Scholarly Articles." "Easiest and quickest way to find sources and scholarly articles," just by using our library's;s search engine. This tutorial to me would be very helpful and would inform me with a lot of information, and it is very capable of getting use too. I could see myself using this tutorial in the near future.

From my information I have found over my years of high school and so far in college is that library books from a college library are not the same as at a local library. The next most easiest link is called the "Ohio Link". Ohio University is linked with other colleges to use this system and all you do is search for the book you are interested in, and hit search! The first step you need to do is type in the book or work you need in Alice, check the status, click the Ohio Link link which will pinpoint the work or book are located all throughout the state of Ohio. Now some people could question, "What if my book is at another University?" All you do is press the request button, and select your home school, sign in with your Ohio I.D. and select a pick up location on the site. Then you press Submit, and in roughly 3-5 days you will receive an e-mail that your book or work is ready to be picked up. Then you have to make time to go and get your work or book!

The third Tutorial is how to find the full text or original source, when all you have is the source information. This can be a big help when doing research papers, and forgetting where you found a book. By following the simple steps in the video you can continue you're research quickly. To being your search, type the name of the article into Alice and select the type of source it is. To use "Alice" the search engine offered here at Ohio University, you need at least three pieces of information. Once you have results make sure to double check their source information with your own to make sure you have found the correct work. Then all you have to do is continue working where you left off.
